Orteil is an all around interesting guy that put so much love in his game that you can feel them. But Cookie Clicker’s charm lies at the tiny, interesting details and features in the game: the humorous news ticker on top (“News: ancient baking artifacts found on distant planet ‘terrifying implications,’ expert says”), the flavor texts on the upgrades (“Counter intuitively, grandmas have the uncanny ability to become more powerful the older they get”), and stuffs like the variation of grandma sprites that appears when you unlocked new buildings (Wizard Towers unlocks Witch Grandmas, Portal unlocks Demon Grandmas, etc.). The UI is well-designed, and Orteil’s pixel arts isn’t too shabby either. So what makes Cookie Clicker so popular then? A part of its popularity may have something to do with Orteil’s above average aesthetics the game is simply nice to look at. But rest assured, you will spend most of those hundreds hours going on with your ordinary life, only with Cookie Clicker running silently on the background.

How far can you go in Cookie Clicker V2? Well, after you reach the point where you can hardly afford anymore upgrades, you can opt to “ascend”. There’s no actual end to the game the end is when either your life or your interest in the game ends. It’s like a never ending cycle of cookie greed. The cookies are used to buy workers (cookie-clicking cursor, cookie-baking grandmas), buildings (cookie farms, cookie mines, cookie factory, cookie bank, cookie temple, wizard towers, time machine, you get the idea), and upgrades to produce even more cookies automatically.
